Electric fitting works

Electric fitting works are a set of all works on connecting the construction facility to the electric network in accordance with a pre-developed project. They include the laying of cabling and wiring products, the installation of all necessary equipment, in particular, security systems.

Procedure of electric fitting works

The electric fitting works are carried out in 3 stages:

  1. Preparation of project documentation. A project is a set of text and graphic documents that fully describe the process of connecting the facility to electric power supply.
  2. Preparation of required materials and equipment. The required quantity of wires as well as switches, sockets, shields, junction boxes, etc. is purchased.
  3.  Connection of the facility to electric power supply. At this stage the employees install the electric wiring and automatic circuit-breakers, connect all electrical equipment, as well as connect the wires according to the approved project. As a result, the customer receives the facility with an electric power supply system, which is functioning.

Electrical fitting works at industrial facilities

Industrial facilities are connected to electric power supply in a similar manner to that specified above.

The essential difference here is that in this case one has to deal with much more diverse

equipment. Such facilities may use electric motors, powerful lighting and other complex equipment. However, the stages of electric fitting works will be the same. It should be noted that all works must be carried out in strict accordance with the applicable rules and regulations, which are described in the regulatory documents. If all established rules are fully complied, this will help to avoid unforeseen problems in the future and save time on troubleshooting.

Sometimes you have to deal with more complex facilities, where it is necessary to solve difficult problems. An example would be multi-purpose facilities. This may be a high-rise residential building, the first floor of which is occupied by commercial organizations.

To do everything right, the following documents should be governed:

  • PUE – electrical installations code;
  • PTB – accident prevention regulations;
  • PTE – operating and maintenance rules.

The rules described in these documents are binding. Their violation can be very dangerous! Therefore, it is important to trust the performance of the electric fitting works only to qualified and experienced specialists. Improper electric fitting works can lead to accidents, injury, and even death.

It is necessary to distinguish among the concepts of electric fitting works and electrical repair job. The second is to restore the existing electricity network, while the first refers to the initial connection of the facility to the electric power supply.

Installation of protective devices

A residual current device (RCD) is one of the key elements of the facility’s electric network. Its purpose is to detect electricity leakages due to a violated insulation integrity. Timely de-energization in case of emergencies can protect a person from getting dangerous injuries.

RCD constantly monitors the current in the phase and neutral wires and instantly switch off the power if a leakage is detected. Since the operation occurs within 0.1-0.3 s, RCD protection is reliable enough not to be afraid of electric shocks.

In order to provide a high-level protection of equipment and a person, it is necessary to correctly select RCD and to connect it skillfully.

It is best to trust such work to specialists.

Subsequently, it is necessary to periodically test RCD for performance in order to be sure of reliable protection.

Cost of electric fittings works

The overall estimate of electric fittings works includes the prices of all materials and equipment, as well as the cost of the works performed.

Two stages of these works are taken into account: roughing and finishing.

Most often, the final cost of electric fitting works is slightly higher than the initial one.

This is explained by the fact that in the process of works some details are specified, installation points are added, additional equipment is required. To minimize the difference between the final and initial cost, everything must be discussed thoroughly at the project approval stage.

The customer must clearly understand for what it pays money: laying of wires, disassembly of old network elements, installation of equipment, etc.

Conflict situations between the client and the contractor can be avoided in the future due to maximum detailing.

To get the facility that is qualitatively connected to the electric power supply, one should resort to the services of only experienced and competent specialists. “Ukrainian Electric Systems” employs the top-ranking specialists who have more than one successfully implemented electric power supply project to their credits.
